Baptism & Christening Cake

I finally got to do what I have dreamed of for so long...making a cake for my little girl! We had her Baptism and Christening on January 16th. The bottom tier is 3 layers: chocolate, white, and chocolate with an oreo buttercream. So, not only does the icing taste like oreos, the cake looks like a big oreo! The top tier was just 2 levels of white cake and oreo buttercream. I loved making this cake and look forward to making many more for her.

HollyDays

I discovered HollyDaysat Christmas Village in Birmingham this past year. There stuff is so cute!!! I bought Addison's Cookies for Santa plate and plan to purchase much more. I love the idea of having a birthday plate for her with her name on it. I have a feeling I'll be buying many personalized gifts for me and for friends from HollyDays! Mmmm...cupcake.

Knowing that I was going to be changing shift at work, I got in a request for some chocolate cupcakes. And what goes better with the early 5 o'clock AM...cupcakes of course! I topped these with oreo buttercream and half an oreo. Yummy!

Recent Treats

Wow, I'm way behind on getting pictures up. I'm just going to group all of them together.

Earlier in the summer I made a cake for a principal that was retiring. I only have one pic (early on in my pregnancy, so all I wanted to do was go to bed!) It is what has become one of my favorite cake flavors, vanilla with oreo buttercream. Simple, but yummy.

I also got into a pie kick and this was some of the best looking meringue that I've made...the pie was chocolate cream. Mmmmmm.

This was a fun cake to make. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse! It was a lot of work, but I enjoyed every minute of it. I loved being able to use such fun colors!

Alabama Birthday Cake

I made this cake for a friend. She is a huge Alabama fan. I've done a few other Alabama cakes, but this is the only one that I put Big Al on. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. The cake was vanilla with a strawberry butter cream made with real strawberries.

Mickey Mouse Birthday

It's been a while since I've done any cake creating! I did this cake for a co-worker of my husband. Her little guys 1st birthday party is today and they went with a Mickey Mouse theme. The main party cake is 2 tiered with both being white cake with an oreo buttercream. I also made them a smash cake!

Chocolate, Marshmallow, and Graham Crakers...Sweet!

I've seen a few different ideas for s'mores cupcakes. This was on that I had to try! It's a combo of graham cracker and chocolate cake batter...the graham cracker batter on the bottom, topped with half of a large marshmallow, sprinkled with a graham cracker crumble, then topped off with chocolate cake batter, and a final layer of graham cracker crumble. Mouth watering yet??? I am going to have to work on these though. What I do like is that most of the marshmallow melts away. The good with that is that it melts into the cake batter leaving it with an even sweeter slightly gooey texture. The bad is that it can leave a hole in the middle of the cupcake. I think the key there is to make sure there is enough chocolate batter on top. It's difficult to find that balance the first time because you don't want to overload the cupcake! Haha, I saw the potential for a big mess on the bottom of my oven. I did top these off with a chocolate frosting, piece of a Hershey bar, and a mini marshmallow. These might be one of my new favorite cupcakes!
